the split second he starts to sing he is just so natural and everything about his voice his so rich. I am always amazed by the fact that it just looks so easy for him, he just simply sings and it sounds heavenly.

A pox on you, Youtube. I cannot get any work done since I discovered these hundreds and hundreds of opera postings. Is Pavarotti really any better, on any other arias, than he is here in “Tosca?” What a voice, a heart, a conductor and orchestra. This is miraculous stuff.

Pavarotti in his prime was an absolutely amazing singer and performer!

Certainly he became a bit mawkish with the 3 Tenor schtick in his later career, but he can be forgiven that lapse of taste.

I was lucky enough to see him a number of times at the Metropolitan Opera in the 80s and will never forget!

Try to find videos of his opera performances. Concert hall chestnuts like this pale in comparison!

    @ChrisAres92
Only 1 guy was criticizing (not insulting) the maestro and actually this mean that HE HAS AN OWN PERSONAL OPINION (no matter if you agree or not). If he gets so many thumbs down it’s cause the most of ppl who can understand him (Italians), don’t agree cause THEY LOVE PAVAROTTI.
I like self-criticism, but a person who denigrate his country in front of other ppl and than says tht he’s proud to be Italian, is 1)an HYPOCRITE 2)an IDIOT.
Nobody suggested my opinion about you.

Real man’s worth is what he created! He builded him self, his voice, his unique interpretation, style and gave new popularity wave for genre. And there’s no even need for another or different Pavarotti. Too many peapoles has chance and abilities to do something important and great as Luciano did. He absolutely is one of best inspirations for further good work on almost anything.

  • singer9545 says:

One said something like…Pavoratti threatens you??..I don’t believe they said anything negative….
And, so what, listening to him erases anything negative!!!!! No one can ruin the joy of hearing his voice!!!

  • ChrisAres92 says:

I hope I will leave this country. i’m proud to be italian, but sometimes we are so dull that the genius born here always goes away.

  • bsdvak says:

If the Italians have Luciano Pavarotti, they cannot be stupid at all. I listen to him everyday.

  • ChrisAres92 says:

because we italians are stupid and we are like the sheeps. we are always conditioned by someone, we are unable to have a our own opinion. yes, they said something negative about Luciano, and they are stupid.
message to other countries: please invade us, please.

  • bsdvak says:

    Indeed, tonyhan0903, indeed!

  • tonyhan0903 says:

I wish I could understand what they said, too. In my perception, to dislike Pavarotti as a fan of opera is i almost mpossible. I don’t love everything he sings but he did such a great job of this aria. His lyrical voice is perfectly suited to the aria and the quality of voice is amazing. Strictly speaking of the quality of voice, I can’t think of any tenor who measures up to him. Instantly recognizable unique Italianate timbre, ringing in the voice, secured and thrilling high note…

  • joergjung1 says:

    göttlich !!!!!

  • bsdvak says:

I do no tread Italian, but why are there thumbs down marks on some of the comments? Did they say something negative about the maestro? This is beyond comprehension. Why would anybody say anything other than praises about the one and only Maestro Pavarotti?
